Nigeria Customs Service and China Customs Sign MoU to Boost Trade

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC) to enhance trade and drive economic growth. The agreement aims to foster a bilateral relationship that will boost import-export operations and favor Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria.

Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC) Adewale Adeniyi led a management team to Shenzhen, China, for the signing ceremony. He commended Wang Lingjun, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China, for showing interest in signing the MoU with the NCS.

Adeniyi expressed optimism that the NCS-GACC Memorandum of Understanding will serve as a critical component of cooperative security and trade relationship between the two nations’ Customs agencies. He reiterated that the relationship will create a cooperative mechanism for NCS and the GACC to collaborate on supply chain security standards and enhance the economic stability of both nations.

Wang Lingjun, representing Vice Minister Sun Yuning, signed the MoU on behalf of the People’s Republic of China. He expressed satisfaction with Adeniyi’s vision for the Nigerian customs and was optimistic that the affiliation between the two agencies would serve as a mechanism for creating opportunities for Nigeria and China to share on a wide range of economic issues and trade facilitation.

The MoU signing is a significant step towards enhancing trade and economic growth between Nigeria and China, with a focus on supporting MSMEs and promoting cooperative security and trade relationships between the two nations’ Customs agencies.
