The Rivers State Visionary Council, a collective of influential thinkers, has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his unwavering commitment to completing legacy projects. This endorsement follows the recent launch of the Andoni stretch of the Ogoni/Opobo/Andoni Unity Highway, a critical infrastructure project linking three local government areas.
Under the leadership of Convener, High Chief Sunnie Chukumela, the council acknowledged Governor Fubara’s tireless efforts to promote harmony and stability in the state, including his support for the National Peace Accord of 2023. They also recognized his dedication to enhancing the well-being of citizens, particularly public servants, and his plans to bolster the state’s human capital and capacity through strategic recruitment initiatives.
The council also commended Governor Fubara’s focus on transformative development, including the continuation of inherited projects and the introduction of new initiatives. These efforts have the potential to bring far-reaching benefits to the state and its people.
However, the council expressed concern over the lingering dispute between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. They urged Wike to reconsider his stance and work towards a resolution, as the conflict is hindering progress in the state.
The council emphasized that power belongs to the people and cautioned self-serving politicians to prioritize the interests of Rivers State. They also encouraged Governor Fubara to fill cabinet vacancies with capable individuals who can contribute to the state’s advancement.
Finally, the council thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his initial efforts to resolve the conflict in Rivers State and called on all citizens to work together to build a brighter future for the state.
