Seun Kuti, son of the legendary Afrobeat musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has made a shocking revelation about his father’s polygamous lifestyle. In a recent interview on the ‘Bahd & Boujee’ podcast, Seun disclosed that Fela’s numerous wives and concubines almost killed him with stress.
While many know about Fela’s infamous marriage to 27 wives in one day, Seun revealed that there were over 100 concubines living with them at the Kalakuta commune. He stated, “People only know of Fela’s 27 wives, they don’t know of his over 100 girlfriends that lived with us in the house. The wives and girlfriends almost killed Fela with stress.”
Fela’s lifestyle and struggles with polygamy are well-documented, and Seun’s revelation sheds more light on the challenges his father faced. Fela passed away on August 2, 1997, at the age of 58 due to AIDS-related complications.
