A prominent Nigerian actress, Toyin Abraham, faces allegations of unpaid debt from a Lagos-based fashion designer.
Andra, the designer, publicly expressed frustration on social media, claiming Abraham and colleagues Annie Idibia and Gabriel Anthony owe millions of naira in unpaid fees for over 14 months.
The outcry prompted Abraham to respond with a clarifying statement.
During production of her film, Malaika, Abraham’s team partnered with designers, including Tiannah, for a runway scene. A friend of Gabriel Anthony contributed additional garments.
Abraham confirmed purchasing an accessory from Andra, paying in full. However, the borrowed outfits were returned to Gabriel after filming.
Investigating the allegations, Abraham contacted Gabriel, who verified informing Andra that the garments were returned and lent to another party, clearing Abraham of liability.
