Imo Police Smash Kidnappers’ Den, Kill One Suspect, Rescue Four Victims

Owerri, Imo State – In a daring operation, Imo State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Tiger Base, dismantled a kidnapping syndicate in Ezioha, Mbaitoli Local Government Area.

The October 4 intelligence-led operation, conducted jointly with military personnel, resulted in the neutralization of one suspect and the safe rescue of four victims abducted on September 29 along Orlu Road.

The rescued victims are Eze Okoro from Orlu LGA, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Nwosu (44 and 31 years old) from Ohi in Mbaitolu LGA, and Bartholomew (56 years old) from Benue State.

As security forces approached the hideout, they exchanged gunfire with the suspects, repelling the attack and killing one. Others fled with injuries.

Recovered items from the camp include:

  • A pump-action gun
  • Ten live cartridges
  • Four expended cartridges
  • Four locally made explosives
  • A Biafra flag
  • A native bulletproof vest
  • Two Highlander SUVs
  • An ash-colored Toyota Camry

Imo State Police Commissioner CP Aboki Danjuma and Commander of the 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, praised the operatives for their swift action and urged continued momentum in combating crime.
