President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed sadness over the blackout in Nigeria’s northern region, affecting 17 states, due to vandalism of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line.
Tinubu met with the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, directing the ministry and relevant agencies to speed up restoration efforts. He charged the Transmission Company of Nigeria engineers to bring immediate relief to those affected.
The President also ordered the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to deploy security personnel, including aerial cover, to protect engineers repairing the damaged line. Additionally, he urged traditional rulers and community leaders to work with security agencies to protect public assets.
Tinubu’s swift action aims to minimize disruption and restore electricity to support social and economic activities in the region.
