A Niger Delta-based group focused on combating pipeline vandalism has expressed its support for the reforms implemented by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The group’s endorsement comes as Nigerians witness a gradual decrease in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
According to Pathfinder Fiawei, National Coordinator of the Anti-Pipeline, Oil Theft & Illegal Bunkering Task Force, the reforms initiated by NNPCL’s Executive Vice President of Downstream, Isiyaku Abdullahi, have had a profound impact on the oil and gas sector.
Fiawei praised NNPCL’s efforts, stating that the company’s reforms have spurred competitiveness in the downstream sector, leading to a drop in PMS prices.
The development comes amid ongoing discussions about the importation of PMS, despite Dangote Refinery’s capacity to meet Nigeria’s petroleum demands.
NNPCL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari, has assured Nigerians of the company’s commitment to ensuring energy security in line with the Petroleum Industry Act.
