Lagos, Nigeria – Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has addressed the backlash surrounding Bishop David Oyedepo’s 70th birthday gift – a Rolls Royce and ₦1 billion.
During a recent sermon, Adeboye emphasized that Christians and clergymen should strive for financial stability, rather than perpetuating poverty.
“Being poor won’t shield you from criticism,” Adeboye stated. “If you die penniless, they’ll question your faith. ‘After serving God all these years, this is how you end up?’ they’ll say.”
Adeboye continued, “Conversely, if you prosper and ride a luxury car, they’ll still criticize. You can’t escape scrutiny, so choose abundance.”
Adeboye’s comments come after Oyedepo’s birthday celebration at Living Faith Church’s Ota headquarters, where the lavish gift sparked debate among Nigerians.
The RCCG leader’s stance underscores the importance of financial wisdom and stability in the Christian community.
