Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked Kanya village in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing one and abducting several others.

The district head, Isah Daya, was kidnapped alongside eight others during the raid on Saturday. Sheriff Alhaji Almu lost his life, while three others were injured.

Police spokesperson Nafui Abubakar confirmed the attack. A combined security team led by the police has launched a manhunt to rescue the abducted individuals.

This incident follows another tragic event in which bandits killed the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Suru Local Government Area.

The Kebbi State Government has provided logistics to combat banditry in affected towns, particularly Kebbi South and Zuru Emirate.
