Nigerian comedian Bovi Ugboma asserted that women control the entertainment industry, contrary to common narratives.

On TVC’s ‘Your View,’ Bovi stated, “Women have conquered the entertainment industry, but they’re accustomed to fighting for equality.” He noted that women’s dominance in the industry is evident.

Bovi cited influential women such as Amaka Igwe, a pioneering filmmaker, and Funke Akindele, with the highest-grossing film. Mo Abudu, Bolanle Austin-Peters, and Jade Osiberu are also successful producers and directors. Chioma Ude founded the Africa International Film Festival, while Omoni Oboli, Uche Jombo, and Genevieve Nnaji are prominent industry figures.

Bovi emphasized, “Women run the industry… When I hear young girls complain about male producers demanding sex for roles, I wonder, ‘Who have you cried to? You own the industry’.” His statement encourages women to recognize their power and leverage it to address industry issues.
