Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has expressed his expectation for more from Christopher Nkunku, despite the Frenchman’s impressive performance in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Southampton.
Maresca praised Nkunku’s display but emphasized that he can deliver even more. “I’m happy with him, I know that he can give more. We expect more from him,” Maresca said.
The Chelsea manager acknowledged that Nkunku has been playing out of position, which can affect his performance. “He is an attacking midfielder, but sometimes we use him as a winger or a nine to find balance,” Maresca explained.
Nkunku scored one of the goals in Chelsea’s win over Southampton, which ended the team’s three-game winless run and moved them back into the Premier League top four.
Chelsea’s next match is against Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League Round of 16 tie on March 6.
