The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has issued a summons for Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State, due to allegations of criminal breach of trust.
Bello, previously declared wanted by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for money laundering, also faces accusations of possessing unlawfully acquired property.
Justice Maryann E. Anenih issued the summons on October 3, 2024. According to the document, Bello allegedly committed these offenses between 2016 and 2023.
Bello is charged under Section 311 of the Penal Code Law, Cap. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria 1963, for criminal breach of trust, punishable under Section 312. Additionally, he faces charges under Section 319A for possessing property suspected to have been obtained through unlawful means.
The EFCC posted the summons on its official platform.
