Iran has reportedly assured the Biden administration that it won’t attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump. This unusual guarantee was made in a secret exchange last month, aiming to ease tensions between the two nations.
The written message, sent via Swiss diplomats on October 14, came after the White House warned that any attempt on Trump’s life would be treated as an act of war. This warning was prompted by allegations of an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump, including a Pakistani man charged with plotting to kill him.
Tehran has long sought revenge for Trump’s role in the 2020 killing of Qassem Soleimani, Iran’s top military commander. Despite this, Iran’s government has denied plans to assassinate Trump.
