The people of Isaba kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State have issued a passionate appeal for political inclusion in the upcoming council elections. They are seeking to produce the chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, citing “political equity, peace, and inclusive democracy” as the reasons for their agitation.
According to Comrade Edwin Doufa and Mr. Obadiah Wareseimere, the Central Chairman and Secretary-General of Isaba kingdom, respectively, the community has been marginalized and neglected politically for far too long. They emphasized that it is Isaba’s turn to produce the chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area, considering the lopsidedness in political formations since the council’s inception in 1996.
While commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his developmental strides across the state, the kingdom urged him to support their bid for the chairmanship. They argued that despite their loyalty and support for the Peoples Democratic Party, they have been denied political appointments and elective positions, including commissioners, Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission chairmanship, and membership on statutory boards.
The kingdom’s spokespersons stressed that addressing this neglect is crucial to ensure political equity, peace, and inclusive democracy in the state. They appealed to the governor to align with their position and allow Isaba to produce the chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area in the forthcoming council elections.
