The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, has offered a public apology to the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for falsely implicating him in the ongoing emirship dispute in the state. Gwarzo had previously alleged that Ribadu was involved in the return of the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to the state, providing him with private jets. However, Ribadu vehemently denied the accusations and threatened legal action.

At a press conference at the Government House in Kano on Monday, Gwarzo retracted his previous statement, acknowledging that the government was misinformed about Ribadu’s involvement in the crisis. “We have been misled into believing that the NSA was behind the happenings,” Gwarzo admitted. “We apologise to the National Security Adviser, his person, and office for any embarrassment and inconvenience this might have caused him.”

Gwarzo expressed shock at the mention of Ribadu’s name in the plot to impose the deposed emir and assured the NSA of their continued support and cooperation in discharging his duties. “We are human and can err at any time. On my behalf and the Governor of Kano State, I want to assure the NSA of our continued support and cooperation,” he stated.

This apology comes after Ribadu’s office refuted the allegations and distanced themselves from the ongoing crisis, threatening legal action if the accusations persisted.
