The Nigerian Human Rights Advocacy Group (NHRAG) has strongly denounced the escalating intimidation and harassment of media professionals across the country, warning that this disturbing trend poses a significant threat to the fundamental principles of democracy and press freedom under the current administration.
The organization expressed grave concern over the rising incidents of arbitrary arrests, detention, and harassment of journalists by security agencies, which it described as a blatant attempt to muzzle the press and suppress freedom of expression.
NHRAG called on the government to take immediate action to address this worrying trend, ensure the safety and protection of journalists, and uphold the constitutional guarantees of press freedom and human rights.
