The detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, has been denied his request to reassign his case to another judge.

Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, rejected Kanu’s request, citing that two previous judges had already been recused.

Kanu had expressed loss of confidence in Justice Binta Nyako and requested her recusal during the September 24 hearing.

Justice Nyako agreed but Justice Tsoho returned Kanu’s case file, stating she had handled the case since 2015 and was best suited to see it through.

If Kanu persists, he must file a written motion with supporting affidavit, serve it on prosecutors, and appear before Justice Nyako.

Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, confirmed the development and awaits official notice and new hearing date.

Kanu faces seven-count terrorism charges brought by the Federal Government.
