The presidency has dismissed the political strategies of 2023 presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, stating that President Bola Tinubu is focused on revitalizing the nation’s economy and not distracted by their political games. According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu is committed to fulfilling his promises to Nigerians and is currently engaged in rebuilding the country’s economy, laying the foundation for sustainable growth and development.
Onanuga’s comments came in response to speculation about a potential alliance between Atiku and Obi, following a recent meeting between the two and other opposition figures. Atiku had hinted at possibly stepping down for Obi in the 2027 presidential election. However, Onanuga dismissed their political maneuvering, stating, “We are not bothered by their schemes, as they reveal their mindset. They are mere politicians fixated on the next election, whereas President Tinubu is a statesman dedicated to fulfilling his commitments to Nigerians. He is busy resetting the economy, addressing pressing issues, and creating a brighter future for all citizens. We won’t be diverted by their political games.”
The presidency’s response highlights the administration’s priorities and commitment to delivering on its campaign promises, despite the opposition’s continued political maneuvering. By focusing on economic revitalization and nation-building, President Tinubu is demonstrating his dedication to the well-being of Nigerians and the progress of the country.
