The Nigeria Police has vowed not to engage in a media battle with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, over the political crisis plaguing the state.
In a statement, police spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi condemned allegations made by Fubara, stating that the force was merely complying with a court order prohibiting its participation in local government elections.
Adejobi also dismissed circulating claims of police partisanship, reaffirming the force’s neutrality and non-interference in state and national politics.
Fubara’s outburst was deemed unwarranted and unfair to Nigeria’s law enforcement institutions, Adejobi noted.
The Inspector-General of Police’s illustrious career and integrity were highlighted, showcasing his honor and focus. His respected position as Chairman of the West African Police Chiefs Committee further underscores his commitment to excellence.
The police statement urged restraint in Nigerian politics, emphasizing the need for decorum.
The force remains committed to professionalism, avoiding unnecessary conflicts and upholding its esteemed reputation.
