Nigerian singer Seyi Vibez has shared a personal story of how he was defrauded while attempting to join Wizkid’s Starboy Entertainment record label early in his career. During a recent interview with Wazobia FM in Lagos, Seyi Vibez recalled how his eagerness to join the label led him to fall victim to a scam.
He explained that he had Googled how to join Starboy Entertainment and came across a phone number, which he called. The person on the other end claimed to be Wizkid’s recruitment officer and asked Seyi Vibez to pay N10,000 for a registration form. Despite his young age of 13 at the time, Seyi Vibez sold his phone to raise the money and made the payment, only to be blocked by the scammer.
Seyi Vibez shared this experience as a warning to upcoming artists, advising them to be cautious and not sign up for any record label online. He emphasized the importance of thorough research and verification before making any commitments.
His story serves as a reminder of the potential risks and pitfalls in the music industry, and the need for artists to be aware and vigilant in their pursuit of success.
