Barcelona’s teenage winger, Lamine Yamal, has revealed the reason behind his visible frustration after being substituted in Sunday’s LaLiga match against Alaves.
Yamal, 17, was replaced in the 67th minute with Barcelona leading 3-0, courtesy of Robert Lewandowski’s hat-trick.
Explaining his reaction, Yamal admitted to being disappointed with his own performance.
“I thought I could play better,” Yamal told RNE. “I demand a lot from myself… I think that’s the line I have to follow to play every game at 100 percent.”
When questioned about his conversation with manager Hansi Flick, Yamal disclosed:
“He asked why I was upset, if it was due to the substitution. I told him it was because I didn’t think I helped the team well enough… I could do more.”
Yamal assured Flick he would give 100% effort in the next game.
